What is biometric technology?
Biometrics, just like people, come in a range of shapes and sizes. Put simply, the term covers a range of technologies that automatically identify people through bodily characteristics, such as fingerprints, retinas and speech patterns.
So far, a range of biometric solutions have been developed and brought to market. Many of them can uniquely identify a person. However, they can also easily be fooled.
In the past, fingerprint readers have been tricked using gelatine moulds, while voice recognition software has been defeated with simple voice recordings. Even retina scanners have granted false access to high-quality photos of a genuine user.
On top of this, there is also the very real risk of physical harm to employees in attempts to compromise these systems - something that every business wants to avoid.
However, by measuring the ‘act’ of signing - a process that is almost impossible to forge - and using a number of advanced encryption techniques, the Bio-Pen has solved these issues, allowing high security at a low risk to the user.
Why is it different?
- Accuracy - Using sophisticated analogue and digital adaptable processing and analysis, the Bio-Pen provides a rate of recognition reliability previously unattainable.
- Security - The system encodes and encrypts information directly from sensors inside the pen to make a 'digital hologram', preventing any form of copying and 'playback' of behaviour.
- Privacy - The stored data cannot be used to recreate the original signature or any other personal information, eliminating the possibility of piracy.

Using the Bio-Pen
The Bio-Pen simply plugs into the USB port of your computer. At only 13.4cm long and weighing just 25g, it’s small enough to be carried around in your pocket or laptop bag, giving you the latest in security technology in the office and on the move.
